RLTRI, Raipur establish in the year 1979 with the aim to provide training research and treatment for the leprosy affected persons.
The Institute acts as the Regional Office of Health and Family Welfare (ROHFW) for the state of Chhattisgarh to monitor various National Health Programs including NLEP at state and district level.
Technical supervision of NLEP activities in the 8 districts: During the 8 years were covered for assessment of the NLEP programmes, during the visit to the district hospital. 32 CHC, 43 PHC and 38 SHC were visited and suggestions for improvement and to bridge the gaps noticed during visit were given to the concerned districts.
Regional Leprosy Training and Research Institute, Raipur has been established in the year 1979 with the objective to provide specialized treatment to patients of Leprosy, training to various categories of Medical Personnel viz.programme officers (DLOs), Medical Officers, Para Medical workers etc. and Operational Research.
RLTRI, Raipur is having 50 bedded hospital providing OPD and IPD services to leprosy patients. This is one of the central government institute providing DPMR services including physiotherapy services and reconstructive surgeries to leprosy patients. The institute provides technical support to ten states, which has been allocated by CLD pertaining to NLEP implementation. Also officers from institute undertake supportive supervision and monitoring visits to the different districts of Chhattisgarh state for NLEP.
Along with this, institute has been assigned additional responsibility of RoHFW since 2005. So the institute provides technical support to Chhattisgarh state and also officers of the institute undertake supportive supervisory visits to the different districts of state for monitoring other National Health programmes of public health importance.
